Skyfire: Mobile browser will change our view of the mobile web?
By the Keroin Friday, August 22, 2008, in Internet and Web Services , Software , PDA and GPS , mobile phones Announced in January 2008, the Skyfire mobile web browser is about to show us what he is capable.
The beta software is currently available only to U.S. users too, we'll still have to chew our front brake to finally test it. But here are what some see what is going on ...
In recent years there was not much change in the surf on the web through our mobile companions. The average user is simply impractical of Internet Explorer Mobile (for those with a device running Windows Mobile) and others had to resign themselves to use web browsers "owners" of their devices often unsophisticated and not allowing a surfboard fitting that on websites format wap (wml) dedicated to mobile surfing.
For the more experienced, a great step had been taken with the friendly Opera Mini that we offered a smoother surfing, and a powerful reformatting regular web pages for easier reading.
Opera Mini is currently available in version 4.1 and we had tested almost two years ago (in version 3.0) on a Smartphone Sony Ericsson P910i.
Since then, there was the thundering out of the Apple Iphone but especially the "slap" vision proposed by the Safari web browser which offered a real web browser (without reformatting pages) with a lens system can be manipulated easily with the multi-touch screen. The mobile web has taken quite a turn in the right direction that day ...
With the release of the iPhone 3G recently, the Safari browser has not been many changes, but he now faces a formidable competitor with the latest version of Opera Mobile browser (in version 9.5) which adopts a behavior similar to that of Safari for web browsing.
To see a comparative test of two browsers (Opera 9.5 and Safari) please visit our forum: Opera for Windows Mobile Comparison vs. Safari on iPhone .
Opera Mobile 9.5 (not to be confused with Opera Mini that is only a "light" version of Opera) is so effective as the brand HTC has not hesitated to propose it as default browser in its PDA last generation as the HTC Touch Diamond or the HTC Touch Pro (the same with a keyboard). Both devices are currently the flagship brand, is to say their confidence in Opera 9.5 which however is still in beta stage.
So we come to the advent of Skyfire, who according to most experts, looks like another step in the comfort of users surf the Web on mobile.
In the video of skyfire below you will notice the impeccable conduct of the browser on large sites known to the difficulty of posting on other mobile interfaces (including YouTube).
For those who would like to see a little more, here's a video of Skyfire (in English) with commentary by the two creators of the software, Nitin Bhandari and Erik Swenson at a high-tech conference.
In this video, Skyfire is compared to Opera Mobile on smartphones, the browser's built Nokia N95 or Safari on the iPhone.
They learn that seamlessly manages Skyfire javascript, ajax and all versions of Flash ...
It just needed a "real" comparative test between Safari, Opera 9.5 and Skyfire to see which is the best but we can assume that Skyfire could very well dethrone the other two ... so of course it keeps its promises ...
