TeraCopy: A SuperCopier for Windows Vista?
By Keroin on Saturday, July 14th, 2007 under Software One of the minuses of Windows Vista is the tool to transfer (copy or move) files which is really inefficient. Here's a free solution that replaces the tool very advantageously dedicated to Windows Vista: TeraCopy ...
Although there has been some work on the part of Microsoft on the file copy with Windows Vista, the speed is not the appointment.
In Windows Vista, you can now see more information like the size of files remaining to be transferred, the transfer rate (speed) ... Unfortunately, it still lacks the ability to finely manage its copies of files (setting aside a copy of the list or adding a new print queue for a transfer) or simply enjoy the opportunity to pause a copy (to another activity requiring lots of system resources, for example).
In Windows XP, a sublime little program called SuperCopier can add all these options (and others) when you copy a file.
Unfortunately, it seems that the development of SuperCopier be stopped for the moment and it is not fully compatible with Windows Vista. Indeed, SuperCopier works with Windows Vista but it does not replace the manager of default transfer.
Until an update of SuperCopier which is expected, following the software TeraCopy which has little to ready the same options but has the advantage of working perfectly under Windows Vista.
TeraCopy can do the following: (translated from English since the publisher's website)
- Copy files faster: TeraCopy uses dynamically adjusted the buffer to reduce downtime. Synchronizes the speed of copying files with the maximum speed supported by two physical hard drives.
- Pause and resume a file transfer: You can pause the copy process at any time to free up system resources and restart a single click.
- Fault recovery: In case of copy error, TeraCopy will retry the copy several times and the worst case, just put the file in question, without completing the full transfer.
- Interactive file list: TeraCopy shows errors copying files and lets you fix the problem and restart only the problematic files.
- Integration with Windows: TeraCopy can completely replace the transmission system copy, you can work with files as usual (no need to run the software each time).

NB: A version of Pro (pay) software is also available for adding options (an ordinary user will still be very much of these additional options).
PS: The software is in English and do not have a translation in French but it's not very troublesome in this case.
